Review of The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015) by Brad S — 24 Nov 2015
Definitely an interesting look at human psychology. The ensemble cast is spot on, the cinematography and production design are awesome. But just like Dr. Zimbardo with the experiment, director Kyle Alvarez doesn't know when to quit.
What starts as fascinating and thought provoking, eventually becomes a bit of a repetitive and forced slog to get through. I think a leaner cut of the film might have given the material more emotional heft at the end.
Instead, I felt relieved to just have it over. All in all though, a solid film that tells a very tough story to tell in a good way.
