Review of The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015) by Michael C — 16 Nov 2017
Beginning in 1980 and ending in 1984, a series titled "That's Incredible!" aired on ABC. The show focused on such things are breath taking stunts, acts of magic and supposed paranormal events.
The reason why I mention this old series is because it s how I first learned of the 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment. The basic premise of the experiment was how people would act if they were in a position of power over others.
The experiment was supposed to last two weeks, but was halted after three days because the guards began to horribly abuse their power. When I first heard of this movie, I made a point to see it. I think it is one of the best movies of 2015.
The movie does an amazing and even frightening job, of showing the viewer how the experiment went and the near devastating effect it had on those who were the prisoners. It can be very difficult to watch at times, however I do highly recommend it because it does an excellent job showing how dangerous abuse of power could be.
The cast is also at the top of their game here. This may be a movie you can only see once because it is so dark, but it is a movie worth seeing.
