Review of The Squid and the Whale (2005) by Alex G — 29 Nov 2009
It's films like 'The Squid And The Whale' that contain over serious, very personal themes and plot elements that on paper may not seem like a good idea to translate to a full length film because it is at risk at either making the audience feel too uncomfortable or too bored.
However, Noah Baumbach uses quirky wit, a paper mache toned 80's set piece, and a veteran lead cast with a promising younger cast who work their characters' nuances and depth down to the bone to make a humane and startlingly original film.
