Review of The Squid and the Whale (2005) by May W — 19 Aug 2009

This movie was so reminiscent of wes anderson's "the royal tenenbaums", except maybe not as good. nevertheless, it was a very well executed film. stellar acting, and baumbach has a knack for characterization and creating profundity in discomfort not unlike anderson.

I do wish the ending offered more closure,though, and jeff daniels' performance was a little bit too like bill murray's ir gene hackman's in "tenenbaums" for my liking. ultimately this film loses one star because of my little problem with its originality.
