Review of The Squid and the Whale (2005) by Caesar B — 17 Aug 2014

Set in 1986 Brooklyn, a middle-aged couple decided to separate, leaving their two teenaged sons with feelings of resentment. Things get even more tense when a pretty young college student comes into the picture, creating animosity between father and son.

Jeff Daniels is terrific as a man going through a mid-life crisis, and Jesse Eisenberg also stands out in his breakthrough performance. The rest of the cast is also admirable. A great film from a great writer/director.
