Review of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) by John O — 23 Jul 2016
Not only Roger Moore's finest James Bond film but stands alongside Goldfinger as perhaps the best of the entire franchise. Every aspect of what best comprises a James Bond film - action, adventure, sex, spectacle - achieves a near-perfect balance.
A villain with a seemingly impregnable headquarters bent on world domination. An apparently invincible henchman, Jaws, played by Richard Kiel. A gorgeous Bond girl in Barbara Bach as the Russian equivalent to 007, Agent XXX.
Stunningly exotic locations include Egypt and Sardinia. A Lotus Espirit that transforms into a submarine. Moore himself has found his way completely as James Bond; suave and charming one moment, ruthlessly executing villains the next.
Nobody Does It Better.
