Review of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) by David G — 18 May 2008
One of my favourite Bond outings. Good story, exotic locations, a three-dimentional leading lady who can handle herself in Barbara Bach's Soviet agent, great villains (including the legendary Jaws) and some glorious action sequences including the hugely entertaining chase scene with the gadget-packed Lotus Esprit and the epic final shootout involving dozens upon dozens of extras as a combined force of captured American and Soviet sailors take the fight to Stromberg's henchmen on board a huge tanker. A nice image of the cold war thawing temporarily.
Interestingly the final credits state that "James Bond Will Return in For Your Eyes Only", yet following the success of Star Wars, Eyes was postponed in favour of cash-in Moonraker.
