The Spy Who Loved Me(1977)-8/10...the 10th James Bond film and Roger Moore's 3rd is one of his best and a very good Bond film. Directed by Lewis Gilbert with the title song "Nobody Does It Better"(an excellent overall theme for Bond) performed by Carly Simon. This time around James Bond must team up with a beautiful Russian agent named Anya Amasova code name XXX(not Vin Diesel) played by Barbara Bach to stop Stromberg played by Curt Jurgens, a wealthy industrialist, who has stolen two nuclear submarines in order to ignite nuclear war between the two superpowers to destroy the world so he can create an empire beneath the ocean from his massive lair Atlantis. This is a good Bond film because I love the one-upmanship between 007 and XXX. This film also featured the debut of Richard Kiel as Jaws a huge, hulking assassin with metal teeth! Great scenes include the opening action piece with the British flag parachute, a great chase involving Bond's white Lotus, a motor-bike, cars and a helicopter...and the spectacular assault aboard a huge tanker. It ranks as one of Moore's better Bond films, because by this time Moore had really settled in to the role and despite the criticism for his quips(there are plenty in this film) he delivers them with all the confidence that the character requires.

"Reginald Bundy...critic for the times.".
