Review of The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) by Joseph W — 16 Nov 2014
This film is easily one of Roger Moore's best Bond films. After the disastrous Golden Gun fiasco, Bond goes back to basics and cuts down on the cheesy campiness of earlier entries. Bond gets serious, fighting a menacing assassin named Jaws, who is almost impervious to physical damage and sports a killer smile.
Also joining the fray is a sexy Russian agent, and a strong villainous performance from Curt Jurgens. He wants to live in an underwater utopia, and start nuclear Armageddon to have it. With a real sense of danger, a new serious attitude, and a strong female romance interest, The Spy Who Loved Me is one of the best Bond films, in my humble opinion.
