Review of The Spy Who Came In from the Cold (1965) by Norm D — 23 Sep 2017
No better than 3 stars. Burton, it's said, was a crank throughout the shoot & may not have been giving his best. In a way, this is a courtroom drama without much drama. The East Germans shooting an innocent in the no-man's-zone at the Berlin Wall inspired a look from Burton but no flinch nor looking for cover from a ricochet as one would expect.
So, from the beginning, some things didn't work. And by the end, when you should really care about what happens ... mmmm ... you don't quite. So, pretty good, not great. The book likely was much better.
