Review of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004) by Steven P — 04 May 2010
The Rugrats had previously proved they could make a successful TV-to-film transfer, and SpongeBob has readily followed suit. With its fair share of jokes that are targeted at adults (SpongeBob gets intoxicated off ice cream and hilariously rants toward Mr.
Krabs) and kids (SpongeBob and Patrick marveling at the delight of their new mustaches), vivid animation, smooth Pacific music and effectively-used cameos (Scarlett Johannson, Jeffery Tambor, David Hasselhoff and Alec Baldwin all lend their talents to this super and soggy sitdown), this deservedly sits alongside the cartoon as one of the crown jewels of the new Nickelodeon.
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie gets 85 Krabby Patties (and failed schemes by Plankton to steal them) out of 100.
