Review of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004) by Kyle F — 10 Aug 2010
It substitutes the genuinely clever humor from the show's earlier episodes with continuous silly facial expressions. Although Patrick and SpongeBob make a terrific team, this movie obviously suffered from lack of SpongeBob-Squidward chemistry.
New characters are unwelcome, and the film seems to make fun of cheesiness while being cheesy at the same time. Some consolation, however, can be found in the rich and often dark animation.
