Review of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004) by Kevin L — 24 Aug 2014
A lot of critics say this movie is way too stupid. They're right. And that's why I love it. Let's face it. Spongebob is kind of a stupid idea. It's a bunch of anthropomorphic sea creatures who eat cheeseburgers.
The early episodes of the show were designed to fit the stupidity. The writers thought that the audience wouldn't take the show seriously, so they didn't have to either. They took the same idea with the movie.
Because of that, we got Spongebob getting drunk off ice cream, a bunch of fish beating up a guy in an old style dive suit, and what is possibly the best scene in movie history: David Hasselhoff "boating" Spongebob and Patrick to Bikini Bottom while the final action scene is happening on his back.
The movie is stupid, crazy, and loved by many. So to all you critics saying this movie is to stupid to work, I have one thing to say; I'm a goofy goober, you're a goofy goober, we're all goofy goobers.
