Review of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015) by Connor D — 13 Mar 2015

"The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" is the classic story of Plankton once again trying to steal the famous Krabby Patty Formula. In his attempt many different, strange events occur that lead to time travel, fish out of water, and, most importantly, teamwork.

Now, I will say that I was a huge fan of SpongeBob when I was growing up. I remember coming home every day and watching two back-to-back episodes of the yellow sponge and his starfish friend. However, sadly I have grown out of that stage in my life and have moved on. That being said, this film still is a fun time. I felt a lot of nostalgia sitting through this movie. Judging it primarily as an animated family film, I will say that this film doesn't stand up to Disney, Pixar, or Dreamworks, but SpongeBob and his pals will be a blast for kids. However, the parents bringing their excited kids to see the lovable sponge probably won't be as entertained as they might be seeing some other animated film. 5.5/10.
