Review of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015) by Nicole C — 10 Aug 2015

The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water is the newest Spongebob movie,the last one came out more than 10 years ago so it has been a long time since we have been waiting for a new movie and we finally got one.

In my opinion,this is a very nice animated/live-action comedy movie with some very funny moments and I think this is even funnier than that other comedy that came out this year Get Hard.Though to be honest not all of the jokes work,because some of them just fall flat and pass.

What I really didn't like about this movie is that it's very cliche.I knew the "twist" ending from the very beginning,and some other stuff that happens which I don't want to spoil but overall it is a pretty cliche movie.

I personally liked Antonio Banderas in the movie,I thought that it really added some humor to it and a pretty fine performance by him.

Another problem with the movie though it's the amount of absurdity in it.Things just fly and fall in various absurd places,and not only is it absurd but it's also mindless action,especially by the end.Like at that final scene when they are battling for the book,on the streets there are no people what so ever,and around the corners on the cafes we see people there who aren't even shocked that some sea creatures and a ship with wheels with a pirate in it are fighting.They just went with it which really bothered me,but it didn't kill the movie off thankfully because there's still a lot of enjoyment to be found here.

The Visuals looked awesome especially by the end when they are CGI characters,they looked so realistic like you would except a movie that cost $74 million to make.

I guess overall the movie is mostly aimed to kids and the only way adults can enjoy this is if they watched the original cartoon and loved it or if they turn their brain off for 90 minutes.
