Review of The Spirit of St. Louis (1957) by Brett B — 29 Mar 2012
A fairly standard biography that is primarily elevated (forgive the awful pun...) by the work of James Stewart, who is as "watchable" in this as he ever was. The supporting cast is full of interesting character actors (any time Murray Hamilton shows up in a movie is a good thing, in my opinion), and Wilder's direction is steady, though it's - admittedly - not one of his showier efforts.
That being said, it's a compelling story, solidly-told; that's enough for me.
