Review of The Spiral (1998) by Eric R — 25 Apr 2010
A depressed pathologist, links the death of his former medical school friend with a videotape given to him by a reporter. Rasen takes a complete turn of events in its plot and introduces new elements to the film.
I believe the route Rasen took was ludicrous and made the film out to be more of a thriller than any. The dramatic approach coupled with its sensual overtones was a bad move on George IIda. It made the spirit out to be some girl on a fatal attraction trip.
It was great to have the film intertwined with the last and include the same characters, but changing the feel of the film was a mistake on IIda. There was no horror, only a film about evolution and its pretentious realisation for the future of the world.
A completely different film that had nothing to do with the first one.
