Review of The Spectacular Now (2013) by Adam B — 15 Jan 2014
This Romantic follows up for (500) days of Summer perfectly. The devastating cycle of love surges through this film just like the last. I decided to read the book before I watched he movie and you'll be slightly disappointed because it doesn't follow the book too well.
That's my mistake partially because I expected it to be like the book but it's actually just based off the book. Nonetheless, I still loved it. The chemistry between Sutter and Amy was so vibrant and real and everything seemed so relatable to our generation.
The parties, the sex, the relationships, the beer, it's all evident in our generation and this film nails it. The direction and subtle cues from the characters made this movie really deep. Great performances by both the lead parts and bravo to Pondsoldt & writers of 500 days of summer for delivering an amazing film once again.
Just like his last romance, the ending was what truly made the movie worth while.
