Review of The Spectacular Now (2013) by Nate M — 28 Apr 2014

A coming of age story that almost isn't a coming of age story. It's so tender and full of so much substance and humanity, and it's so beautifully and brilliantly directed and acted as well. It's also a part of the run of teen stories there have been an abundance of lately who's profundity stretched beyond a certain age and has something to say to us adults as well. It's a shame we live in the world of the MPAA who has to slap an R rating on something like this as well, because young people could benefit so much from seeing this.

It also has to be said how exciting and refreshing it was for me to see Kyle Chandler (better known as Coach Taylor from the Friday Night Lights television series) FINALLY in a role that is so far away from his typical type of character, and to see him do so well at is as well. XD.
