Review of The Spectacular Now (2013) by Zack F — 19 Dec 2013
I went into this film thinking it was just another dumb rom-com. I was spectacularly mistaking. Rather than a "boy meets girl, boy loves girl, boy looses girl, boy gets girl", 'The Spectacular Now' is, to a believable extent, unpredictable; after every scene I had a new different prediction of the ending.
Although I laughed out loud, I also nearly cried, although this was partly helped by two (specifically) remarkable performances proving that Miles Teller is far, far better than 'Project X' and '21 and Over'.
All in all, a highly recommended, well acted, well written intelligent masterpiece.
