Review of The Sound of Music (1965) by Luis C — 06 Mar 2011
High-fructose alert. I cannot stomach it. Even after visiting Salzburg and the Schloss Leopoldskron, around which many beautiful scenes were filmed, I can't do it. It is just a bad, bad movie. Dumb.
The failed nun, the pointless captain, and a family of halfwitted children. The plot sucks, the acting sucks, the dialogue sucks, the music sucks. Only a genius like John Coltrane could take something so annoyingly sugarly as "My favorite things" and turn it into pure jazz bliss.
But then again, I'm not particularly fond of musicals, although I do have some select favorites. This is most definetely not among them.
