I would say that was the poor man`s Harry Potter film. Sure it was Dsiney film but also Pirates of the Caribbean films are but POTC is one of the best movie series but anyway. If you are the fantasy movies fan, you would love this.
The story was simple but unfoturtunately the script a little bit watered that idea. But the weakest link was definetely Jay Barucel. Typical performance when actor plays a nerd with stereotype. He was boring adn annoying.
Nicolas Cage did a good job but Alfred Molina stole the show.
