Ok, and surprisingly so. Thought it would be the usual movie-for-the-masses pop-schlock. It is still fairly mainstream, but has a decent plot and is energetically directed. Great special effects.
Could have been better though. The initial scenes were very intriguing. Became a bit more poppy and style-rather-than-substance orientated towards the end though.
Good performances by Nicholas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Teresa Palmer and Alfred Molina (especially).
