Review of The Soloist (2009) by Jordan B — 18 May 2010
This film has so many good things in it and one major flaw. The flaw would be how slow this movie trudges on in this sad and heart-wrenching story. The good things though, such as great acting, over come the bad.
Downey Jr. is a pro. An actor that can take being drenched with pee twice in the same movie is an amazing actor. Not to mention that he always has an eccentrically great performance. He also has great chemistry with Jamie Foxx who plays a schizophrenic musical genius. Foxx does this very well, especially in conveying his pain of the past.
Music lovers will also take a liking to this movie. It really stresses the importance of music and anyone has any connection to music will be enamored. The film also does a fantastic job of exposing the real truth about poverty in America. Everything in this movie seems very real. The only problem would its turtle-like speed. Be prepared to be patient when you watch the movie. If patient, it is a good movie.
