Review of The Social Network (2010) by The V — 26 Apr 2014
Facebook and it's inventor (Mark Zuckerberg) are put under an almost satirical magnifying glass as David Fincher and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin show us the making of one of the most annoying (and connected) sites on the Planet.
This is a truly dialogue heavy film due in part because Aaron Sorkin has this annoying way of using his intellect in order to stimulate the brains of other people. Ever see the show Sports Night? Or The Newsroom? They're very indulgent dialogue wise and become frustrating in the character development department.
Here, however, Aaron holds back and actually plots out a better narrative that ironically turned into a Citizen Kane-like accomplishment. Well done! Also cupped with Fincher's misanthropic directing style and good acting from all around, you get pretty much a minor masterpiece that'll go onto to becoming a classic once Facebook is replaced by some other social networking site.
