Review of The Snow Walker (2003) by Tomas T — 11 Sep 2010
The Snow Walker offers a beautiful and equally engaging experience, it does not boast with complex plot, instead it focuses on the human factor in situation where survival depends on co-operation.
The plot is straight to the point, a pilot takes a shady detour during a regular job ending up with an extra passanger on board, a beautiful inuit girl with tuberculosis who the pilot agrees on taking to the closest hospital in exchange for some ivory. Unfortunately they crash in the middle of Alaskan wilderness with no foreseeable rescue on the way. The movie begins here and it is all about how culture clash, how different western way of life can be from the native inuite culture of northern hemisphere.
The movie is slow on pace but the excelent acting compensates, the running time could have been edited a bit, but even as it is, The Snow Walker is a powerful and beautiful drama movie.
