Review of The Snake Pit (1948) by Kelsey S — 29 May 2007
This film is a fine example of the acting powerhouse that was Ms. Olivia de Haviland. She proves in this film the calibre of her talent--done so in a classy and subtle manner. Although the resolution of her problem is nicely packaged together at the end (almost too easily) the character's journery is both sad, painful, and humorous. This classic film deserves multiple viewings just to take in the brilliant performance delivered by Olivia de Haviland not to mention the now famous "snake pit".
scene and the descent of the audience along with the main character into the pits of madness and despair.
