My first question is, why fashion? And if dealing with fashion, why not involve more Smurfette and the vain smurf whatever his name is? I don't think the choices were the best for a kids movie, or a family movie.
With SO many things New York offers, again, why this choice? Gargamel's cat is funnier than the actor who portrayed the moronic magician. The only kids in the movie happen to be in a toy shop at their worst behavior.
It would've been nice to have a kid actually interacting with the blue people. The plot makes no sense so many times. It even leaves things hanging like Gargamel's launch into the cosmetic industry and how did he end up in jail because of a simple leaf blower (instead of having no documents or even a US identity).
Sometimes they had funnier things in the background, like when Grumpy uses the line, "Hey, I'm walking here" when they're almost run over by taxis. In short, with so many things they could've done with the smurfs this is the least likely to win new kid audiences.
