Review of The Smurfs (2011) by Freedomfighters — 16 Dec 2016
"The Smurfs" is everything you would expect it to be: a CGI/live-action hybrid with a huge all-star cast that is admitted well-acted and has a few funny moments that help it ultimately equate to harmless filmmaking that is clearly intended for young children.
Whether or not all of this is a good thing depends on if that is what you want: if you're a longtime "Smurfs" fan hoping for some super-brilliant film based on the iconic characters, you'll be pretty disappointed.
However, if you're looking for some harmless, family-friendly fun, "The Smurfs" should be decent enough to leave you walking away satisfied. Regardless of your expectations, just don't expect it to be the most brilliant piece of cinema you'll ever see.
You can do worse, but you can also do better.
