This is another movie I wanted to watch because of the impressive ensemble of actors, both live action and voice over. However, this was highly disappointing. The script gave these characters basically nothing to do.
I was bored pretty much the entire time. And no, this wasn't because it was a kids movie. I'm one of those 21 year olds that loves animated movies. There was just nothing funny about this. The few pop culture references they tried fell flat.
The funniest character was Azrael, the CGI cat. There were a few cute moments between the smurfs, and Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays were charming enough, but they could not save this sinking ship.
