Review of The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) by Martin T — 10 Aug 2009
This is just one of those movies that is so damn cute and adorable, you can't not like it. Ernst Lubitsch really has the unique ability of creating films that are just affectionate, adorable films.
Charles Ruggles is great in this film and the scenes where he breaks the fourth wall were particularly entertaining for me. The film is very well executed for the time and the musical numbers were short and sweet.
