This is definitely one of the most eerie and bizarre of all the Almodovar's art house works. As scary as it is shocking at times, it diverges into deeply controversial and dark topics. Filled with obsession, bad love, and pure insanity, The Skin I Live In strikes with its revelations and lack of predictability.

Antonio Banderas did a great job of playing the maniacal plastic surgeon, who wants to create a synthetic skin for his deformed wife, and does all of his tests on a defenseless guinea pig, in the form of a pretty girl.

Or is it? Without giving anything away, it's right to say that with its wild idea and haywire tale, the movie marks Almodovar's darker period and sudden transition in terms of storytelling.
