Review of The Skin I Live In (2011) by Lysann B — 10 Mar 2013
I love Almodóvar but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with The Skin I Live In. Of course the conclusion is as shocking as ever but I agree with one critics who said it's mainly about gender issues, surgery and violence.
Not everybody's cup of tea for sure but all Almodóvar films are usually rooted in the deep emotionality of the characters, here everybody seemed oddly detached. Not convincing at all this time.
