As an adaptation of a book series this fails. It attempts to cram way too much from the books into one movie and as a result there is no connection to characters, important events are overlooked and the whole film feels distant to the viewer.
As a stand alone film it is nothing special, a chick flick with some positive messages and portrayals of female friendships. It takes very little brain power to watch something like this so if that's what you're looking for this could be for you.
