Review of The Singing Detective (2003) by John C — 20 Apr 2004

Fun
Funny
Original
Strange
Adrian Brody is cool
Robert Downy Jr's character is hilarious with his bitterness and witty remarks
I enjoyed the blend of old 50's detective mystery and musical numbers with the present day struggle and interesting conversations with Mel Gibson's character
The ending was more straightforward than I thought it would be but I didn't have a problem with it
Recommendation: Don't mind a musical number every now and then? Enjoy old detective stories? Skin diseases don't bother you too much? Like movies that don't need car explosions to entertain?
Grade: B+
.
