I can finally see and understand why The Silence of the Lambs swept the major Oscar categories; and is considered one of the best movies of all time by many. This was the best thriller/horror film I have ever seen. All aspects of this movie were amazing: the acting, the plot, and the atmosphere.
The acting wow. Hannibal Lecter is without a doubt the greatest monster to even be displayed in a piece of cinema. Anthony Hopkins was an absolute power house in this role as the psychotic mad man. The way he spoke and him never blinking had me truly spooked! Dr. Lecter is quite possible the scariest villain ever in cinematic history. Let's not forget Jodie Foster who also gave a stellar performance as the rookie FBI Agent. She did a brilliant job of brining in an emotional aspect, which made the film that more intense and thrilling. These two totally deserved to win best actor and best actress. I also thought Ted Levine as Buffalo Bill was great as well.
The Silence of the Lambs is a film I would tell everyone that they MUST see. It was truly deserving of everything it won. If a "Horror" film wins best picture you know it has to be great, which it was.
