A crime horror masterpiece, one of the best book adaptations of all time, the best horror film, and one of the best films I've ever seen. Based off Thomas Harris' classic book of the same name, the film tells the story of Clarice Starlight, a trainee in the FBI, being assigned by Jack Crawford to find a serial killer nicknamed "Buffalo Bill", and must interview the psychiatric cannibalistic serial killer named Hannibal Lecter, as Lecter is believed to know info about "Buffalo Bill".
The film has an incredible eerie atmosphere that adds more to the horror in the film. The film is very believable thanks to incredible acting, especially from Jodie Foster in her Oscar-winning role as Clarice Starling, Ted Levine as "Buffalo Bill", and the best performance of the entire film, Anthony Hopkins in his short, yet amazing Oscar-winning portrayal of Dr.
Hannibal Lecter. The film has a huge number of scares, especially during Lecter's escape. You might not shout (old school ****), but you will have nightmares due to the creepy, bizarre murders and imagery.
The film also has horrific crimes and nonstop thrills. The film also benefits from Jonathan Demme's incredible Oscar-winning direction, Ted Tally's very well-written and Oscar-winning script, Oscar-winner Howard Shore's musical score (didn't win an Oscar though), and it's sound.
A horror film so worth watching for being more unique and complex than many horror films.
