Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Superbat — 20 May 2021
The Silence of the Lambs won the “big five” Academy Awards (Picture, Actor, Actress, Director, and Adapted Screenplay) when it came out, and it isn't hard to see why. At its center is the mission of FBI trainee Clarice Starling, who solicits the help of cannibalistic psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter in order to take down another serial killer.
This unique thriller will keep you hooked from beginning to end. While the film's storyline is near flawless, it's best aspect was the two leads. Jodie Foster shines as the determined trainee. Despite the relatively minimal screen time that he receives, Anthony Hopkins leaves a lasting impression with his performance as the brilliant but maniacal Lecter.
Nobody could've nailed those roles better than Foster and Hopkins did; the dynamic between their characters is ultimately what makes this movie as great as it is. The Silence of the Lambs is undoubtedly one of the greatest movies that I've ever seen.
