Review of The Silence of the Lambs (1991) by Stephen Z — 06 Jan 2015
As far as murder-mystery films go, "The Silence of the Lambs" is the best. It is a creepy and graphic movie about a disturbed serial killer. The plot that unfolds is incredible, as the film delves into a deep psychological analysis of the serial killer to discover his true identity.
The outstanding acting in "The Silence of the Lambs" is its real strength. Jodie Foster is great as FBI trainee Clarice Starling, and the evolution of Foster's character is excellent. But even though Foster is the star of the film, it is Anthony Hopkins who steals the show. He is excellent as the brilliant, but psychotic Hannibal Lecter. His charisma is one of the best parts of this film.
The tone of any film is very important, and the dark tone of "The Silence of the Lambs" is fantastic. It is a chilling and suspenseful movie. I can't get over how great this film is! A definite must see!
