Review of The Signal (2007) by Lisa — 27 Aug 2008
Even if I know that I have to refrain from watching movies like this one, I somehow find it difficult to do so. I don't think I can trade stifled screams with a box of tissues yet.
The Signal started with pretty disturbing images and I thought I was in for a horrific 100minutes or so. I was sort of expecting jump-out-of-my-seat moments but those came on the first act of the film. I had to turn down the volume just so I wouldn't be scared out of watching it. The second part was a bit odd...things started to get a bit incoherent and I was confused whether I was watching a horror flick or a comedy. The third part was when things got a whole lot more chaotic. I was kinda lost about which scenes were real and which were only imagined by the main characters --- and for this reason, I think I have to see this movie again.
Guys, this is one of those horror flicks that would mess with your mind so if your looking for a mindless slasher flick, you stay away from this one. But if you enjoy getting headaches not just from the gore, the swearing and the psychological horror, this might just be a good pick for late-night viewing.
