Review of The Signal (2007) by Geoff J — 17 Sep 2008
Sometimes you stumble upon a gem that just revives your love for all things movie. The Signal is great in a lot of ways. It challenges classic structure, jumps playfully and skillfully back and forth between genres and themes, and brings to light the rising talent and versitility of the cast and crew.
Just when you think you've got it figured out that you're watching one type of film, everything changes and develops into something strange, new, dangerous, and special all at the same time. It never lets up with dark, beautiful imagery, brooding music, coming together overall with sick and delightfully twisted scenes one after the other.
So, if you feel like letting your guard down, and opening your mind to something unique and disturbingly cinematic, The Signal will take you for a ride and leave you affected, satisfied, and breathless.
