Review of The Signal (2007) by Patrick S — 18 Oct 2008
Sigh...so much wasted potential. I mean, I was interested in the first transmission, thought it was sick and a good breakdown of society thanks to an electronic signal but it after that...it just went downhill.
The second part wants to be a dark comedy but forgets the dark part...and the comedy part, I laughed a couple times but not enough. There was no cohesion between this and the other two segments and then it tried to establish some more rules which may have been interesting if it wasn't for the third part.
The third transmission was more successful in integrating comedy and horror but by then, it's too late. The movie stops playing by its rules it created about the crazy people and I just stopped caring. Then incredibly I cared even less when the twist happened cause it was so nonsensical.
I mean my friends love it cause it's so original and that's true but is it good? I must say watch the first transmission then shut it off.
A side note about the prologue...why was it there? It added nothing and even had less cohesion between the segments than transmission II had.
