Review of The Signal (2007) by Joey B — 08 Mar 2010
A commendable effort, it has a cool script and an interesting premise. The contributions of three different directors does chop the narrative up a bit, and the stab a comedy in the middle, while funny, does not fit the mood of the film.
The premise of the signal itself, while affecting people differently, is a little too convenient. None of the main characters are affected by it badly enough to really complicate things. It also loses its coherence toward the end, which is most likely by design.
However flawed it is, I have to give it recognition because I really enjoyed how it tackled the concept and it showed some real directing talent on all ends.
