Review of The Signal (2007) by Malcolm D — 25 Mar 2010
Knowing the budget of this movie before watching it I wasn?t expecting anything spectacular but as far as production value is concerned the handheld camerawork looks good and the script and story are written well, showing there is talent in the team who made this.
The story is exiting after a very slow start but the ending seemed like a cop out. The violence was necessary but it was too gratuitous for this kind of exercise in suspense, I think the film would have been a more suspenseful ride if they left more of the violence to subtlety.
I like the direction and the concept but the sometimes slow pacing, the unexplained holes in the plot and the ending just left me wanting a bit more.
