Review of The Signal (2007) by Caleb M — 30 Aug 2010

"The Signal" is a decent independent horror film in which a strange electronic transmission causes the majority of the public to hallucinate and attack others. Oddly, the film is divided into three sections, each handled by a different director.

This results in a bit of a disconnect as the first and third parts are pretty much straightforward "28 Days Later" type horror but the middle section tends toward black comedy ala "Shaun of the Dead".

I actually enjoyed the humor but it was a strange fit. The actors did a nice job for the most part but I was not impressed by the female lead, Anessa Ramsey, and A.J. Bowen was much more believable after he was "zombified" than as a normal human being.
