Review of The Shrine (2010) by Jon C — 29 Jun 2011
Just another ordinary indie horror flick.
There is some suspense but its just so meandering.
Nothing in this film is scary except a few images.
To be honest though, alot of the effects are very cheesy for a 2010 flick.
And I dont know why half the blood and gore looks cool and the rest looks fake.
It just goes from point A to point B.
This village too in Poland didnt even look like a village(was there an average of what 10 people total?).
It really bothered me too when they didnt even bother to explain the dark nature of the plot.
Why is it called the Shrine? people must be sacrificed after coming face-to-face with a demonic stone statue to avoid soul possession?
You know it sounds creepy but the problem is it tries to be like others and the torture scene is just too out of place.
And talk about a blantant, unsatisfying ending.....
