Review of The Shrine (2010) by Patrick S — 18 Oct 2015
On paper this appears to be a generic horror flick which gets lost among many other generic horror films. I am not saying it's not because that would be misleading however I think there is some extra charm to this.
The story sets in Poland so that's what intrigued me. Yes, the acting isn't best and the "Polish" accents are brutal but I do believe that it is satisfying enough to grant at least one watch.
Obviously I am biased but third act might come off as a little surprise. I liked it a lot but I will give it a balanced score of six creepy statues out of ten. *Also note that lack of subtitles is not an error.
I was spoiled a bit by understanding what was said. It's much better ending if you don't know what is being said by the locals.
