Review of The Shrine (2010) by Anthony C — 25 Apr 2013
This movie is about 3 journalists investigating the disappearance of an American tourist in Poland. The small Polish town in which they arrived holds a deep, dark, secret. And that's where the story begins.
First the bad. The film's budget must've been very modest. Not once throughout the entire film did I believe the characters were in Poland. It looked like they were in Canada. I found myself looking at the scenery and saying to myself, "they don't have trees like that in Poland!" This may seem like a small gripe, but it took me out of the story.
Now the good. This is one of those weird stories that threw me for a loop. Through 70% of the movie I was like, "Eh, this is ok." But then I started to put 2 and 2 together and I realized what was REALLY happening!! I don't want to say anymore as it may create a spoiler.
All in all I had a decent time with The Shrine. Not the best, but far from the worst. It entertained me!
