Review of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by Tim B — 14 Jun 2007
The Shop Around the Corner could be better known to modern movie-watchers as the original "You've Got Mail" story, and as in most cases the original is superior by a landslide. Set in the charming city of Budapest in the early 20th century, the movie's plot is definitely strengthened by terrific acting, a great amount of humor, and those same heartwarming moments that tend to breed in Jimmy Stewart's career.
If you like romantic comedies and can appreciate the style and glamour of 1940s cinema, definitely see this.
