Review of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) by Stephanie C — 25 Jun 2007
Simply classic. If you loved You Got Mail (or have a girlfriend who loves youve got mail) then this is for you! The Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan chick-flick is based off this 1940s classic. Still funny today, The Shope Around the Corner is definately a feel good movie.
Margaret Sullavan was definately not my favorite, much more uptight and spinster-esque than the loving character depicted by Meg Ryan. However it was not hard to fall madly in love with James Stewart; with his classic looks and charming ways you wish he would be writing romantic letters to you.
LOVE this movie!
